The real cost of a run, and why we show it
Every run in Kestrel shows tokens, tool calls and dollars, per step. Some customers asked us to hide it. We did not.

Automation tools like to talk about time saved and stay quiet about what each action costs. We show the cost of every run, every step, because the teams that see it make better workflows.
What we learned
The expensive steps are almost always reading too much. An agent that reads a whole thread when it needs the last message costs ten times more and is no more accurate. Showing the number is how people notice.
Budgets
Workspace budgets with alerts ship next month. Until then, sort by cost in Analytics and look at the top three.
